Description

We will meet at Sotomayor Square, right in front of the Valparaíso Fire Department headquarters. From there, we'll take a local train to the Caleta Portales area, where we'll purchase the ingredients needed to prepare a delicious Chilean ceviche.

We’ll start by visiting a fresh fish stall to get the main ingredient for our recipe. Then, we'll head to either the Cardonal Market or the Avenida Argentina produce fair. At one of these locations, we’ll select the vegetables and lemons needed to prepare a good pisco sour — a typical Chilean cocktail you’re sure to love! We’ll also buy seasonal fruits for dessert.

Our next stop will be a traditional liquor store. In this shop, which specializes in wines and spirits of all kinds, we’ll choose the bottle of wine to pair with our meal. From there, we'll go up to a private home in the Santo Domingo hill, where a local Valparaíso family will be waiting to host our cooking class.

You’ll learn how to prepare a classic Chilean ceviche, served with pisco sour and traditional flatbreads called churrascas. While enjoying this delicious meal and fine local wine, our host will share insights about the culinary traditions and customs of Valparaíso and its neighborhoods.

After the meal, we’ll return to the starting point to end the tour.
